Mets Beat Montreal, 2-1
|
The Montreal Expos got a sterling performance from pitcher Steve Barrett, but the New York Mets still prevailed, 2-1. Barrett threw 6.0 innings allowing 1 runs. The winner was Robbie Beerbower in relief. His record improves to 2-5. Chris Ross took the loss. The win has New York at 32-56.
Evan Torraville was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mets left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Torraville said.
