The Cincinnati Reds weathered an outstanding game by St. Louis designated hitter Gerardo Macias to topple the Cardinals, 9-5. Macias went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. With the win, Cincinnati goes to 41-55, while the Cardinals fall to 62-33.

Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Bobby Lasaguna to capture the win. The catcher socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Reds ahead, 8-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Cincinnati manager Jimmy Silveira II.
