Montreal Loses, 3-2, in 12
|
The Cleveland Guardians did just enough to secure a victory over the Montreal Expos, 3-2, in 12 innings at Progressive Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Chris Anderson. Cleveland reliever Silas Chinn picked up the win to move to 4-3. Ryan Van Riper suffered the loss. With the win over Montreal, the Guardians improved to 48-45.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the 12th for Cleveland. That's when Jesse Basich hit a run-scoring double off 26-year old right-handed pitcher Ryan Van Riper to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
Basich said his team "played with determination."
