Expos Suffer 3-2 Road Loss
|
Soggy conditions did not keep Boston and Montreal from playing their scheduled game.
The Boston Red Sox defeated the Montreal Expos, 3-2. Doing his part was third baseman Dietmar Warmisch, who went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Boston reliever Gary Tuckfard picked up the win, raising his record to 3-3. Han Keijzer was tagged with the loss. Danny Schneible earned his 17th save in 21 chances.
Warmisch had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 changeup from Han Keijzer, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Red Sox a 3-0 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Warmisch.
Boston manager Rob Diederichs praised his team's "businesslike approach."
Boston raised its record to 59-43 with the win.
