Phillies Rally Late to Clip New York
The New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies riveted fans at Citizens Bank Park.

Though he had a stellar game, Dave Vargas could not prevent his team, the New York Mets, from losing, 6-5, to the Philadelphia Phillies. Vargas was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Brian Thomas, now 6-8, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Asa Hahn earned the save, his 7th, for the Phillies.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Carlos Morejon came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing New York pitcher Andres de Leon, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Philadelphia on top, 6-5.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Morejon said.

The Mets, at 59-56, have lost 4 straight games.
