Orioles Down Twins, 5-3
|
A good performance from first baseman Junzo Kato helped the Baltimore Orioles defeat the Minnesota Twins, 5-3. Kato went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Orioles. Baltimore reliever Wes Reynolds got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Ted Mosley was tagged with the loss. The save went to Jonathan Spicer, his 6th this season.
Kato had a timely hit for Baltimore in the top of the sixth. With Minnesota trailing 3-1, he turned a 2-2 forkball into a bases-clearing double. It was his 18th double of the season, making it 4-3, Baltimore.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Orioles manager John Baltimore. "This one was nice to get."
Baltimore is now 46-75, while Minnesota is 50-71.
