Mets Popped by Nationals, 7-4
|
Marcos Rangel impressed in the 7-4 Washington win over New York. Rangel went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Ed Thorpe Jr. got the win, improving to 12-6. He held the Mets to 4 runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 1. Jakub Kvacek notched his 33rd save in 39 chances.
With Washington leading 2-0 in the bottom of the third, Rangel hit a fastball from Dave Hutchison for a grand slam home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Nationals ahead, 6-0.
Rangel told a Washington Daily reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
Washington has now won 3 straight, while the Mets have lost 3 in a row.
