Colorado got a terrific game from shortstop Miguel Rizo. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to New York, 2-1. Rizo went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. Justin Overlie earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record is now 6-1. New York is now 62-62, Colorado 76-50.
The Mets got a big at-bat from left fielder Evan Torraville. For the game, Torraville was 1 for 3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 12th home run of the season gave New York a 2-1 lead.
"The team always comes first," Torraville told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
