In a tight game between the Miami Marlins and the San Francisco Giants, pitcher Jose Carrillo was terrific on the mound. The Miami left-hander helped his team to the 2-0 win. The winning pitcher was Carrillo, now 8-4. He tossed 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Tony Campos, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 30th save.
The Giants had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Marlins going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the fan favorite Andre Gorter came to the plate. Gorter hit a solo home run on a first pitch fastball from San Francisco hurler Carlos Solis. It was Gorter's 13th home run of the year.
"Our pitching was the difference tonight," Carrillo said.
Miami goes to 53-71, San Francisco to 56-70.
