Blue Jays Fall to Mariners, 4-1
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners get after it.
The Seattle Mariners beat the Toronto Blue Jays, 4-1, at Safeco Field. Jose Zuniga, in particular, was impressive. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Bryce Schimmoeller, the winner, improved to 13-11. He held Toronto to 1 run on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. Kyle Ridgeway earned the save for Seattle, his 3rd of the year.
The game turned with no one out in the bottom of the fourth when Zuniga hit a 2-run home run. It propelled the Mariners into the lead, 3-1.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Seattle skipper Aaron Schiff. "I can't complain."
Seattle is now 49-89.
