Royals Come Up Short at Seattle, 3-2
|
Crowds lined up early in front of Safeco Field, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2052 Major League Baseball season. On the mound was Jimmy Silveira IV for the visiting Kansas City Royals and David Anaya for the hometown Seattle Mariners. In a spirited contest, the Mariners pulled out the win, defeating the Royals by the score of 3-2. Especially impressive was David Anaya. Victor Cervantes sewed up the save, his 1st.
The Mariners got a big at-bat from designated hitter Tze-meng Gan. For the game, Gan was 2 for 3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Seattle a 2-0 lead.
"Every loss hurts," said Kansas City manager Jordan Royals. "But this was a tough one."
