Royals Fall Short, 4-3, at Seattle
|
Seattle Mariners starter Bryce Schimmoeller was in fine form against the Kansas City Royals at Safeco Field, leading his team to a win, 4-3. Schimmoeller went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. The win puts Seattle at 2-0.
The Royals had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Mariners going into the bottom of the third inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old shortstop Harutomi Matsubara came to the plate. Matsubara hit a 2-run double on a 2-2 cutter from Kansas City hurler Ken Hall. It was Matsubara's 1st double of the year.
Matsubara attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
