Braves Down Mets, 7-6
|
Rudo Garciaparra was instrumental in his team's 7-6 triumph over the New York Mets. The third baseman was 4 for 4 with a triple, a double, 2 singles, and a walk for the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta pitcher Brad Kramer got the win. He's now 1-0. Robbie Beerbower was tagged with the loss. The Braves, now 5-2, have hit the ground running this season.
Atlanta won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and Robbie Beerbower on the mound for New York, second baseman Joey Pacheco hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Braves fans to their feet.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Pacheco said.
