Mets Tack 6-2 Loss on St. Louis
|
The New York Mets topped the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-2, in National League action at Busch Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of New York designated hitter Tom Mejorado. The Cardinals, now 4-10, continue their sluggish start.
New York used a well-timed hit by Carl Evans to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mets ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Mejorado said.
