League Suspends Cajina and Ishii for Brawl Monday, September 8th , 2053 Yesterday at Fifth Third Field Javier Cajina and Chris Ishii got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Pawtucket Red Sox and Toledo Mud Hens. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Cajina will have to sit out 4 while Ishii would be given a 8-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Thus far this year, Cajina has hit .267 with 5 home runs and 33 RBIs. In 16 starts this season, Ishii has notched a 2-9 record and a 5.55 ERA. |
