Arizona's Thorpe Gets 2500th Hit Sunday, June 2nd , 2052 Diamondbacks catcher Alec Thorpe never thought his name would be associated with some of the great players in league history. Now that he has reached the 2500-hit threshold, that's all but guaranteed. Thorpe collected his big hit in a 9-4 loss to San Diego. Afterward, he thought about the achievement: "Overwhelmed," he said. "That's how I feel about it right now." Thorpe went 1-for-3 for the game. Thorpe is batting .337 with 2500 career base hits, including 472 doubles, 89 triples and 454 home runs with 1450 RBIs and 1601 runs scored.
