Vargas Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games Wednesday, June 5th , 2052 With 2 hits at Comerica Park today, Efrain Vargas added another game to his hitting streak -- the Detroit first baseman has now hit safely for 20 games in a row. But the hitting feat wasn't enough for the Tigers today, as they fell, 9-2, to the Kansas City Royals. "Frankly, I don't care about hits," Kansas City manager Jordan Royals said later. "I'll let him get 4 hits in 4 at-bats if it means we get a win." Efrain Vargas singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th and struck out in the 8th. Vargas is batting .382 this year with 14 home runs, 38 RBIs and 41 runs scored. He has 73 hits in 191 at-bats. |
