Meyerhoff Runs Hit String to 20 Straight Games Wednesday, June 12th , 2052 Mike Meyerhoff of the Kansas City Royals just keeps going and going. The hot-hitting catcher went 2-for-5 in his team's 6-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. "He is definitely on a roll right now," said White Sox manager Jake Turnbull. "I thought we made some good pitches against him, but he's a good hitter and he hit 'em anyway." When asked about his performance, Meyerhoff said he would not mind going hitless "as long as we get the win." Mike Meyerhoff hit an RBI double in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, struck out in the 7th and doubled in the 9th. This year Meyerhoff is batting .337 with 57 hits and 11 home runs. He has scored 40 times and has batted in 26 runs. |
