Iron Top Bluefish, 1-0, Behind Ávila
|
José Ávila was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Alabama and Florida. The Iron right-hander helped his team beat the Bluefish, 1-0. Andreas Kelly earned the save for Alabama, his 3rd of the year. Losses have been rare for the Bluefish, who are now 9-3.
Ávila, a native of Santiago, Dominican Republic, was dealing all game. He kept Florida hitters off-balance, while giving the Iron 8 quality innings. Ávila threw 98 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 6.
"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Ávila said.
