Idaho's Salazar Takes Home GEL Batting Honors

The Great Explorers League batting race ended with Idaho's Ricardo Salazar on top with a .316 average. The Spuds left fielder was officially named the winner today.
For the season he totaled 197 hits, 41 home runs with 111 RBIs and 96 runs scored. At the award ceremony Salazar told reporters the key to his hitting success this season. "I stayed focused and tried to get a hit in every at-bat."

Rea Tops FFL with .346 Average

Many talented NPBL players can go their entire careers and never even get a sniff of a batting title.
Héctor Rea has already captured one at age 23.
The Georgia right fielder batted .346 to capture the 2081 Founding Fathers League batting championship.
He collected 187 hits, 23 doubles, 1 triple and 41 home runs for the year. In 155 games Rea totaled 119 RBIs and scored 104 runs.

No Late-Season Magic Coming: Nevada Out of Playoffs

Adrián Amézaga said the "entire Nevada Jacks organization" takes it hard when the team misses the postseason. That's the case today, as the club was officially eliminated from playoff contention.
Before this season, the Jacks last missed the playoffs in 2079. In the 81 years they have been a NPBL franchise, they have missed the playoffs 54 times. In the last 10 years, they have missed the playoffs 7 times.
