Lions Deal Jethawks 2-0 Loss
|
Kyle Sanders never let Illinois get something going. The California right-hander commanded his splitter in pitching the Lions to a 2-0 win. California, at 75-48, is 7½ games up in the Great Explorers League Pacific.
Sanders worked his mojo for California. The hard-throwing right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits over 9 innings of work.
During his postgame press conference, Lions manager told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
