The Idaho Spuds topped the Illinois Jethawks, 4-2, in Great Explorers League action at Spuds Park. The standout performance belonged to Idaho pitcher and Los Angeles, California, native Millard Lynch. Lynch went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 14-9. Carlos Acosta converted his 27th save in 29 tries.
Idaho took a 3-0 lead on Jim McGowan's 19th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Illinois pitcher Jesús González in the bottom of the seventh.
McGowan called the win "a team effort."
The loss makes Illinois 64-64.
