Bears Come Back Late to Clip Admirals
|
The Maryland Admirals got a superb performance from pitcher Shou-feng Bu, but the New Jersey Bears still won the game, 2-1. Bu threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Reliever Tony De Jesús picked up the win. His record improves to 3-5. José Navarro took the loss. The last-place Bears lifted their record to 60-76.
New Jersey used a clutch hit from Jorge Rodríguez to get the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bears ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Maryland manager Andrew Cole. "The effort was great."
