The California Lions got a magnificent effort from pitcher Joe Amador, who kept Nevada hitters in check en route to a 1-0 Lions win at King Coliseum. The Lions saw their win-loss record go to 53-84. At the same time, the Jacks fell to 74-63.
California won the game in the bottom of the 17th inning. With two outs and Juan Bririosca on the mound for Nevada, shortstop Jack Jenkins hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Lions fans to their feet.
In postgame remarks, Jenkins simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
