Admirals Upend Citadelles, 2-1
|
Maryland Admirals starter Sergio Vargas was in the groove. He led his team to a win over the Quebec Citadelles, 2-1. Vargas picked up the win for Maryland, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 3-0. Luis Sandoval closed the game out for Maryland, earning his 6th save.
José López, the 30-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. López contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the second inning to put Maryland up, 2-0.
"Bottom line," said Quebec skipper , "we didn't play well enough to win."
The win brings the Admirals to 9-5, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
