Scorpions Squelch Lions Offense in Shutout Win
|
Brian Bacon was superb against California. The right-hander, who is tied for 10th in the GEL with a 1 complete games, had a curveball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Scorpions victory. The score was 5-0. In 6 innings, Bacon surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Utah is now 73-65, California 82-56.
Utah relied on the hitting of Martin Elder to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Scorpions on top, 4-0. For the game, Elder had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Bacon told the Utah Today.
