Patriots Win Thriller, 2-1
The California Lions got a superb performance from pitcher Rex Cashmore. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Massachusetts. The Patriots won the game, 2-1. Cashmore threw 8.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Artie Briggs earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. The win for the Patriots raised their record to 83-69.

The Patriots procured the win, in large part because of shortstop Harvey Madden. In the bottom of the 14th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Madden.
