The Utah Scorpions got a stellar performance from pitcher Dave Gómez, who handcuffed the Alabama offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Bo Jackson Ballpark. Francisco Guzmán earned the save, his 43rd. The second-place Scorpions raised their record to 81-75.

Bob Washington, the slugging left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Washington contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Utah up, 4-1.

After the game, Utah manager Brett Williams applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
