Close Win Moves Bears to 9-9
|
Jethawk Sportpark hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the New Jersey Bears and the Illinois Jethawks. New Jersey won it, 2-1. New Jersey starter Stanley Weber was in command. The Jethawks are now 7-11.
Richard Keeler, the 33-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Keeler contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put New Jersey up, 2-1.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Illinois manager Mike Kritikos.
