The Georgia Generals topped the Illinois Jethawks, 2-0, in Founding Fathers League action at Matthews Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Georgia pitcher Román López. López, the winner, moves to 2-2. He threw 6 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks. Picking up the save was Chris Wright, his 8th.

The Generals got an important contribution from catcher Alfonso Castro, who in the bottom of the fourth punched a 0-2 curveball into center for a run-scoring double. It was his 8th double of the season and put the Generals ahead, 2-0.

"Román was able to execute his pitches," said Georgia manager Alex Cumana. "Simple as that."

The Generals, at 15-19, sit in last place in the Founding Fathers League South.
