Militia Top Jethawks, 2-0, Behind Marte
|
New Michigan Field was the site of a true pitchers' duel.
Getting an impressive start from Pedro Marte, Michigan beat Illinois by the score of 2-0. The save went to Júlio García, number 1 for him.
Marte was in the zone all game. He frustrated Illinois hitters while giving the Militia 6.2 innings of quality work. Marte threw 113 pitches, allowing 1 hit and getting 8 punchouts.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Marte said.
Michigan now has a 3-game win streak.
