Bermúdez, on Top of His Game, Beats Utah, 1-0
|
It wasn't easy but the Nevada Jacks made it look that way.
Starter Andrew Bermúdez shut out the Utah Scorpions despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Nevada Jacks cruised to victory, 1-0. Bermúdez allowed only 2 hits and rang up 13 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
Thus far this season, Bermúdez has tossed 67.1 innings in 10 starts, fanned 68 batters, walked 19 and put up a 2.14 ERA with 4 wins and 3 losses.
