The excitement in Saint Cloud is palpable as the local club has advanced through the Round 1.

The Saint Cloud Thunderbolts downed the Three Lakes Loons 5-3 tonight at Three Lakes Grounds, to take the series 4-2.

"Things are going to get crazy in Saint Cloud for the Round 2. The fans are going to be behind us 100 percent, we know that," said Mario Valdés, who earned MVP honors.

"There's a lot of motivation in our clubhouse right now to make sure we give them something to cheer about."

For the series, Valdés hit .381 with a .409 on-base percentage. He had 8 hits, 1 home runs, 3 RBI and scored 3 runs.

The Saint Cloud Thunderbolts don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Beardstown Tom Cats - Ocean City BlueClaws series. Beardstown leads the series 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
