Sims, Iron Wallop Patriots in Game 4 of WCS
On the verge of being swept and facing a red-hot Massachusetts Patriots team, the Alabama Iron had a tough assignment. Shawn Sims delivered.

The Iron left fielder was unstoppable for the visitors, as he went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 in guiding his club to its first victory of the series, 10-0. Sims, 31, earned accolades for his efforts. The win means Alabama now trails 3-1 in the best-of-7 series.

In the bottom of the fourth, Alabama shortstop Dave Kirkland had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Kirkland stroked a 2-run double to right. It made the score 3-0, Alabama. For the game, he went 2-3 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"We lost," Massachusetts manager said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Bo Jackson Ballpark in Bessemer.
