Jethawks Bounce Griffins, 7-0
|
The Illinois Jethawks got a stellar performance from pitcher John Jarvis, who handcuffed the Washington offense en route to a win, 7-0, at Sunset Stadium. Jarvis picked up the win for Illinois, going 8 innings. He gave up no runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 10-6. Washington's current losing streak is now 5 games.
Illinois relied on the bat of Jan Dooks to get the win. The right fielder ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Jethawks ahead, 7-0. For the game, Dooks had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Jarvis. "Successful pitchers do it."
