Ríos King of Fling with No-Hitter
José Ríos relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Tennessee hitless in a 1-0 win at Matthews Field today.

"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Hounds off balance and guessing the whole game."

The 27-year-old starter rung up 8 strikeouts and 2 walks in whipping the Hounds.

"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Tennessee skipper Steven Luker said.

This year Ríos has worked 128 innings with 109 strikeouts en route to a 10-3 record and a 1.27 ERA.
