Bears Turn Back Massachusetts, 1-0
|
The rain did not keep New Jersey and Massachusetts from finishing their game.
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the New Jersey Bears and the Massachusetts Patriots. New Jersey won it, 1-0. New Jersey starter Stanley Weber was in command. Roberto Pérez Jr. converted his 14th save in 17 tries.
New Jersey took a 1-0 lead on Carlos Mialheiro's 2nd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Mialheiro hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Massachusetts pitcher Octávio Solís visibly frustrated.
"I know we have our doubters," said Massachusetts manager . "But I still have high hopes for this team."
The Bears sport a record of 35-54.
