Lamb Grabs SL Reliever of the Year Award

Ron Lamb has won the 2098 Southern League Reliever of the Year Award, which at age 38 is a "milestone achievement" for the San Jose Millionaires reliever.

"I feel accomplished to win this when there are other younger, stronger, harder-throwing guys out there," he said.


The Canton, Ohio native's numbers speak for themselves, as he captured the award with 33 saves in 58 relief appearances, compiling 81 innings. He had 25 strikeouts and 33 walks, a record of 6-5 and an ERA of 2.22.

He received 10 first place votes out of a possible 20. Juan Casillas of the Richmond Rebels finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Ángel Guzmán of the Tacoma Tritons finished third with 7 first place votes.
