Illinois had no answer for two-time James Yim Award winner Michael Cox. The Utah Scorpions starter stymied Jethawks hitters, helping the Scorpions cruise to victory, 7-0. The Great Explorers League Pacific-leading Scorpions are 65-44.

The Scorpions got a big hit from pinch hitter Kip Christopher. Facing Illinois pitcher Marcos Martínez in the bottom of the eighth, Christopher pounded a 3-run home run to left. His 1st home run of the season put the Scorpions ahead, 7-0.

"Main thing is I want the team to win," Cox told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
