California Beats Virginia in Extra Innings
The California Lions picked up a win at Founders Field, dropping the Virginia Grays, 4-2. Junior Heller, who is tied for 3rd in the GEL in complete games with 2, was the difference-maker. California reliever Brian Schaefer picked up the win, while Gary Gillespie took the loss for Virginia. California is now 54-61, Virginia 38-77.

California took advantage of an error in the top of the tenth inning. The game was tied, 2-2, when Héctor Cruz hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Lions in front, 3-2.

"Bottom line," said Virginia skipper Virginia CPU GM, "we didn't play well enough to win."
