The Utah Scorpions and California Lions completed their game despite the inclement weather.

The Utah Scorpions beat the California Lions, 8-3, at King Coliseum. Javier Ríos, in particular, was impressive. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Juan Castro was the winner. Over 5 innings, he yielded no runs on 4 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts.

With Utah leading 4-0 in the top of the fourth, Ríos came up to bat against California pitcher José Lara. Ríos hit a changeup to left for a 3-run home run. His 11th home run of the season put the Scorpions on top, 7-0.

"Nice to keep our winning streak intact," said Ríos.

Utah, at 92-56, is 10 games up in the Great Explorers League Pacific.
