The Minnesota Wolves beat the Louisiana Blaze, 2-1, at Pelican Park. Minnesota catcher Phil Oliver had the hot bat. He was 2-3 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Jorge Romero came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Vincente Montoya got the save, his 16th in 22 chances.
With Minnesota leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Oliver hit a fastball from Tyler O'Brien for a run-scoring double. It was his 13th double of the season and put the Wolves ahead, 2-0.
"That's baseball," said Louisiana manager Ben Jemmerson. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
Minnesota goes to 92-70. The win puts them 9 games up in their division.
