The Pennsylvania Freedom and Nevada Jacks put on a pitchers' duel.
The Pennsylvania Freedom converted a terrific effort from starter Guillermo Díaz into a win over the Nevada Jacks at Historic Ironside Field. The Freedom won the game by a final score of 2-1. The winning pitcher was Díaz, now 1-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 2.
Ignacio Barrera, the 14th overall pick in the 2088 draft, chipped in a solo home run for Pennsylvania in the bottom of the third. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"I'm happy we won," said Díaz. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
