Florida Loses Again, 9-6
|
Florida catcher Anastasio Portillo was sensational. He went 2 for 2 with a home run and was hit 2 times, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Tennessee beat the Bluefish, 9-6. Bob Eaton picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 8-3. Sean Díaz collected his 15th save.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Larry Ross didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Florida trailing 8-6, Ross retired Jorge Marinello to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Ross, with a wink.
The Bluefish, now 30-54, have lost 8 straight.
