The Illinois Jethawks topped the Michigan Militia, 4-3, in Great Explorers League action at Jethawk Sportpark. The standout performance belonged to Illinois pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Cristián Menéndez. José Guzmán got the save, his 18th in 21 chances. Illinois now sits at 39-50, while Michigan falls to 42-47.

Delivering for the home team was three-time All-Star Jan Dooks. In the bottom of the fifth, the veteran right fielder had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 4-2, Jethawks.

Illinois manager Mike Kritikos called it "a darn good win."
