Despite a great performance by Tennessee first baseman Dale Weeks, the Alabama Iron defeated the Hounds by the score of 6-5 in 12 innings at Bo Jackson Ballpark. Weeks was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Elvin Oliva notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The decisive blow was delivered by Shawn Sims in the bottom of the 12th when he hit a solo home run off 29-year old right-handed pitcher Ted Walton to win the game for Alabama. The home crowd went nuts.
