Mets Rally Past Braves to Claim 1-0 Series Lead
|
The New York Mets started the Division Series in dramatic fashion today, stealing Game 1 from the Atlanta Braves in a walk-off. New York won 3-2 behind a good day from starter Chris Hand. The right-hander threw 7.2 innings of shutout ball in the win, which gave the Mets a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-5 series.
Nate Toth was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mets center fielder hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.
"We put together a nice win," Hand said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Citi Field in New York.
