Giants Edge Athletics, 2-1
|
The San Francisco Giants got a magnificent effort from pitcher Gustavo Andujar, who kept Oakland hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Giants win at Oracle Park. Andujar, now 4-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Danny Granados earned the save for San Francisco, his 8th of the year.
The Giants got a big hit from third baseman Tyler Fitzgerald. In the bottom of the sixth, Fitzgerald smacked a 2-run double off Oakland pitcher Bob Levick. It was his 3rd double of the season. Suddenly, the Giants were ahead, 2-1.
"I was a little disappointed," said Oakland manager . "We could've and should've scored more runs."
San Francisco is now 18-25.
