The St. Louis Cardinals weathered an outstanding game by Texas first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to topple the Rangers, 4-3. Guerrero Jr. was 2-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Mike Gasperino collected his 11th save. St. Louis leads the National League Central Division by 2 games.

St. Louis used the timely hitting of Jacob Patterson to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cardinals on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Patterson attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
