The Cubs grabbed a win, 5-0, at Wrigley Field, overcoming a fine effort from Minnesota pitcher Adrien Roux. Roux went 5 innings and allowed no runs. Sam Thoresen, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 4 hits in 3 innings. The Cubs have now won 4 straight.

Francisco Alvarez made an early impact for Chicago when he stroked his 4th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which came with one out in the bottom of the third, put the Cubs on top, 5-0.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Chicago manager Dumont Cubs.
