Cubs Drop Reds, 3-1
|
Chicago right-hander Joe Ransom pitched his team to victory over the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. The final score was 3-1. Ransom, now 6-5, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Jordan Arenas earned the save, his 18th in 22 tries.
Chicago relied on the bat of Brennen Davis to get the win. The right fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Cubs ahead, 1-0. For the game, Davis had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Davis.
The Cubs now have a record of 37-40.
